I Spy… New Yarn!

Don’t let my absence fool you. I’ve still been acquiring yarn and creating. I’m just finished an afghan I started on last September. It’s the first afghan I’ve made using blocks. I found this pattern for my project. And I used these directions to join my blocks.

In progression.

In progression.

I apologize, the lighting wasn’t the best when I took the pictures. I used Red Heart Soft Navy, Red Heart Aran, Red Heart Pumpkin and Red Heart with Love Pewter. It took about one Super Saver skein each of Pewter, Pumpkin and Soft Navy, and probably two skeins of the Aran. I used recycled Aran yarn, so I’m not sure on the amount. I ended up with a few extra blocks after joining them all together. As with most of my projects I tend to fly by the seat of my pants and don’t follow directions. In hindsight, I would have made it 7×9 blocks instead of 6×11.

Here’s the finished project! I’m really happy with how it turned out. I have a few extra squares left over.

I’m thinking about making another like this with different colors and smaller.

Do you think this afghan would look great on one of theses sofas?!
